Josiah Larkin is a serial entrepreneur based in San Francisco, currently serving as managing partner as SF Luxury Car Service . Most recently working in the transportation industry, Josiah has enjoyed a diverse and exciting career.

Josiah Larkin graduated from University of California Berkeley in 2000, and was anxious to begin his career. Josiah was always drawn to self-employment and to that end, he started a real estate rehab and development company directly after college. Immediately after his undergraduate education, Josiah was busy buying and flipping houses. In his first two years, he completed over 400 transactions. That level of activity is rare with any small real estate company and only possible through Josiah’s ambition and leadership.

With that type of growth and success, Josiah expanded his investments outside of the Bay Area. Soon, he was buying and selling houses throughout the California including Sacramento, San Diego, La Jolla, Hayward, Oakland and San Francisco. Josiah also expanded to Houston, Spring, Magnolia and Klein Texas as well as Atlanta, GA, Ft Lauderdale, FL and Vale, CO. There is a special excitement when a customer is buying their first home, and Josiah was drawn to facilitating that. Homeownership is one of the keys to long term financial security, so empowering young buyers to make strong choices was an excellent avenue for Josiah to pursue.

Josiah Larkin’s buyer incentive program was eventually acquired by Nehemiah Corporation of America. Nehemiah is a non-profit geared toward community development through homeownership and affordable housing. Their acquisition of Josiah’s incentive program indicates the inherent benefit his work had on the communities he was involved in.

Community involvement has always been a priority of Josiah’s. He comes from a family of active Americans. His father was active in non-profits, having founded United Projects Inc., in the 1960s. United Projects is an organization geared towards providing urban youth an opportunity to grow through the Arts including Martial Arts, Music and Performing. United Projects, Inc has taken inner city youth and exposed them to a variety of cultures and people that few would rarely be able to meet.

Innovation and Action

By 2007, the housing market was shifting dramatically and Josiah found it prudent to explore other options. Josiah started working with the California Minorities Council Program, a non-profit that helps companies diversify their workforce by identifying and providing opportunities to minority attorneys. CMCP is partnered with around 3000 law firms throughout California. Josiah was integral to CMCP’s daily operations as Director of Programs. He helped organize events and programs, spearheaded the continued legal education program and even represented the organization when they were without an Executive Director.

In 2010, Josiah left CMCP to return to self-employment. He began a car service company, which would eventually become SF Luxury Car Service. After learning about a close friends success as a driver, Josiah purchased a vehicle and took his first foray into the car service industry. In one year, they grew from one car to seven. By year 3, they were operating 15 vehicles. The car service industry is an exciting and ever-changing landscape, considering the prevalence of huge companies like Uber and Lyft. SF Luxury Car Service has found a niche by providing drivers vehicles to participate in the ride-sharing industry. Josiah started Rentals4UberDrivers which helped make vehicles available to drivers who previously had no viable way to enter the industry.

Josiah Outside the Office

Aside from his professional success, Josiah has enjoyed success in his personal life. He is a family man and decorated martial artist. At one point ranked first in the Japanese International Karate tournament, third in the USA in Karate, and has provided training to body guard executives security services as well as other martial artists around the world. He has won and traveled the world for competing. The discipline learned in the study and practice of a martial arts has been hugely influential to Josiah. One needs discipline to succeed as a self-employed entrepreneur, and Josiah was able to foster that early in life through martial arts.

Josiah Larkin is a community oriented entrepreneur.
